Look out – Some honeymoons can turn into a fizzer!
Let’s start with the moral of this short story! In addition to your wedding day, your honeymoon is one of the most important events of your life. Always double-check that your destination matches the marketing blurb!
A darling couple that I married in Palm Cove, Far North Queensland had their Wedding Ceremony booked with me prior to their arrival in Australia and arranged their honeymoon in Samoa which is a wonderful part of the world. The operator they had booked with put up fabulous photos of their honeymoon destination, but when they got there it was a very different story!
The beautiful little Bure by the sea was nothing but a grubby shack, and the so-called local shops and restaurant were non-existent!
When booking your once in a lifetime honeymoon or dream holiday, please check out the operator and reviews for the place you are booking. This is paramount if you want to make sure you end up having the time of your life, and not an unmitigated disaster!
This story had a happy ending for Dave and Ingrid.
Back in Queensland, the wedding suppliers were really supportive when I explained what had happened. Not only that, but local people rallied round my Facebook call for help, providing free accommodation, restaurant meals, reef trips, and much more besides.
What could have been a horror story, ended up being a fairy-tale for this beautiful couple who I now have the privilege to call friends.☺
